Ghanaian actor, filmmaker, and musician LilWin (Kwadwo Nkansah) has stated that his collaboration with rapper Guru produced what he considers the biggest song in the rapper’s career.
Speaking in an interview with ZionFelix, LilWin pointed to their popular track “Alkayida”, popularly known as “Go LilWin”, as a record that continues to enjoy strong public reception years after its release.
“Alkayida” Still Resonates with Fans
According to LilWin, the song remains a fan favourite and continues to attract attention whenever it is played.
He explained that in his view, “Go LilWin” had a significant impact not only on his own visibility but also contributed positively to Guru’s career at the time.
“When it comes to the biggest song so far, I would say it’s the one Guru did with me, ‘Go LilWin’. That song really stood out and helped Guru’s career significantly,” he said.
LilWin acknowledged Guru’s earlier hit “Lapaz Toyota” as a major success, but insisted that “Alkayida” has had a stronger and more lasting impact over time.
He added that the song still receives strong reactions from audiences whenever it is played, suggesting its continued relevance in Ghana’s music space.
Follow-Up Collaboration and Unreleased Feature
LilWin also revealed that following the success of “Alkayida”, Guru later invited him for another collaboration titled “Tie Tie Break”.
However, he disclosed that the original version of the song reportedly included his former manager, Zack, who was later absent from the final release.
He stated that he was not aware of the reasons behind Zack’s removal from the project.
“I don’t know why Zack was left out of the final version of the song,” he noted.
Limited Working Relationship with Guru
The Kumawood star further shared insights into his working relationship with Guru, explaining that their interactions were mostly limited to studio sessions and performances.
According to him, after working together, they typically went their separate ways without maintaining regular personal contact.
He also revealed that during the early stages of their collaboration, he did not charge performance fees when appearing alongside Guru.
The Bigger Picture: Impact of Collaborations in Ghana’s Music Industry
LilWin’s comments highlight the lasting influence of musical collaborations in Ghana’s entertainment industry, where certain songs continue to define artistes’ careers long after their release.
While opinions on “biggest hits” remain subjective, his remarks have reignited public discussion around Guru’s catalogue and the role of collaborations in shaping musical success.
