Ghanaian actor, filmmaker, and musician LilWin, known in private life as Kwadwo Nkansah, has claimed that his collaboration with Guru produced what he considers the biggest song in the rapper’s career.
Speaking in an interview with ZionFelix, LilWin pointed to their hit song “Alkayida” (popularly known as “Go LilWin”) as a record that continues to enjoy strong public reception years after its release.
“Alkayida” Still Dominates
According to LilWin, the song remains a fan favourite and still commands attention whenever it is played.
“When it comes to the biggest song so far, I would say it’s the one Guru did with me, ‘Go LilWin’. That song really stood out and helped Guru’s career significantly,” he said.
He acknowledged that Guru’s hit track “Lapaz Toyota” was also widely successful but insisted that “Alkayida” had a stronger and more lasting impact.
“Even though ‘Lapaz Toyota’ is also a big record, ‘Go LilWin’ still commands attention anytime it comes on. In my view, it’s even hotter than all his other songs,” he added.
Follow-Up Collaboration and Missing Feature
LilWin further revealed that following the success of “Alkayida”, Guru invited him for another collaboration titled “Tie Tie Break.”
However, he disclosed that the original version of the song included his former manager, Zack, who was later absent from the final release.
According to him, he was unaware of the reasons behind Zack’s removal from the track.
“I don’t know why Zack was left out of the final version of the song,” he explained.
Limited Industry Relationship
The Kumawood star also opened up about his working relationship with Guru, stating that their interactions were largely limited to studio sessions and performances.
He noted that after recording or performing together, they typically went their separate ways, with little direct communication afterward.
Interestingly, LilWin revealed that during the early stages of their collaboration, he did not charge for performances alongside Guru.
“After we recorded together, I went my own way. I didn’t really have a direct relationship with him at the time,” he said.
The Bigger Picture
LilWin’s comments highlight the lasting impact of collaborations in Ghana’s music industry and how certain songs continue to shape artistes’ careers years after their release.
While debates over “biggest hits” are often subjective, his remarks have reignited conversations among fans about Guru’s most influential songs and the role collaborations play in defining musical success.
