Veteran Ghanaian singer Mimi Andani, popularly known as Mimi Divalish, has publicly appealed to Charterhouse Ghana to entrust her with managing the red carpet segment of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards.

Her call comes amid growing criticism of the red carpet experience at Ghana’s biggest music awards event, with many industry observers calling for significant improvements.

Mimi Andani’s Appeal

Speaking on the issue, Mimi Andani revealed that she has previously reached out to Robert Klah, Head of Public Events and Communications at Charterhouse, to express her interest in overseeing the red carpet.

According to her, she believes she has the expertise and vision to transform the segment into a more structured and glamorous experience.

“With the red carpet, there is a lot to do. I even sent a message to Robert Klah… you need to give me that job. I need to handle that red carpet for Charterhouse. You know how I do it—I will do it better,” she stated.

Criticism of the TGMA Red Carpet

Mimi Andani’s comments come in response to widespread criticism of the TGMA red carpet in recent years.

Industry critics, fashion analysts, and fans have raised concerns about:

  • Poor organisation and coordination
  • Overcrowding and lack of control
  • Inconsistent fashion standards

Some observers have even described the red carpet as resembling a “marketplace” or a “circus,” rather than a polished, high-profile fashion showcase expected of a major awards event.

Call for Better Structure and Curation

According to Mimi Andani, one of the biggest challenges is the lack of strict curation, which allows too many uninvited personalities, bloggers, and poorly styled attendees to dominate the space.

She emphasized the need for better planning, coordination, and quality control to elevate the overall image of the event.

Her proposal suggests a more exclusive, well-managed, and fashion-forward red carpet, aligning with international standards seen at major global award shows.

The Bigger Picture

The Telecel Ghana Music Awards remains one of Ghana’s most prestigious entertainment events, and the red carpet plays a crucial role in shaping its public image.

As conversations around improving the experience continue, calls like Mimi Andani’s highlight the growing demand for professionalism and innovation in Ghana’s entertainment industry.

Whether Charterhouse will respond to her proposal remains to be seen, but the discussion signals a strong desire within the industry to enhance the quality and global appeal of major events in Ghana.
