Head coach of FC Samartex 1996, Christopher Ennin, has credited tactical discipline and a thorough understanding of his opponents for his team’s 2–1 victory over Asante Kotoko SC in Kumasi.
Samartex secured the win at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Tuesday morning, April 7, 2026, in a Ghana Premier League fixture that had originally been postponed due to rain on Monday, April 6, 2026.
Speaking after the match, Ennin revealed that he had closely studied Kotoko and knew how to disrupt their rhythm.
“I always enjoy playing against Kotoko in Kumasi. I remember beating their ten players during my days with Berekum Chelsea. I know how to frustrate Kotoko and make them play to our rhythm. We forced them to adapt to our strengths, and it led to the goal. I’ve studied the team closely; for me, it’s all about tactical discipline,” he said.

Ennin’s game plan proved effective as Samartex executed their strategy flawlessly. Christian Boateng opened the scoring in the 54th minute, followed by Emmanuel Mammah adding a second late in the match to give the visitors a commanding position.
Kotoko had a late chance to narrow the deficit after Elvis Kyei-Baffuor was fouled in the penalty area, which also saw Samartex midfielder Samed Kyei receive a red card. However, Kotoko captain Samba O’Neil missed the penalty, before Albert Amoah pulled one back in stoppage time
