The first on our list of the best Christmas horror movies is A Christmas Horror Story which is a 2015 Canadian anthology horror film directed by Grant Harvey, Steven Hoban, and Brett Sullivan. Not even Santa Claus is safe from the evil that descends on Bailey Downs, a small town that is suddenly plagued with malevolent spirits, zombie elves, and Krampus – the anti-Santa Claus. It was released on October 23, 2015.

This is a 2010 Dutch dark comedy horror film about Sinterklaas. The legendary St Nicholas comes to life under a full moon and terrorizes Amsterdam by trying to kill as many Dutch children as possible at Christmas time. It was released on October 31, 2010.

The Children is a 2008 British horror-thriller film set around the New Year holiday directed by Tom Shankland. Elaine, her husband, and her children travel to her sister’s isolated country home to celebrate Christmas. There, children get infected by a bacteria that turns them violent and it was released on December 5, 2008.

Wind Chill is a 2007 supernatural horror film directed by Gregory Jacobs and starring Emily Blunt and Ashton Holmes. Just before their university campus goes quiet for the winter break, a young woman (Emily Blunt) asks a classmate (Ashton Holmes) for a lift home. The two students set off on their trip and begin to get to know each other. But, when a reckless motorist drives them off the road, they find themselves stranded in the snow on a remote highway. As the night grows colder, the two are confronted by a horde of menacing apparitions and struggle to escape with their lives. It was released on August 3, 2007.
