It’s Not Bad To Do Covers Of Already Released Songs – Stonebwoy To Ghanaians

Ghanaian Reggae dancehall act Stonebwoy has spoken about his recent collaboration with highly spiritual music signee Mr. Drew which resulted in copyright issues.

He stated in an interview that he connected with Mr. Drew through Instagram for the feature but he realized the song was for Rotimi after he has already recorded his verse, So he later advised Drew to the right thing by contacting the owner of the original song which is love Riddim by Rotimi because it’s not bad to do a cover of an already released song by other acts.

He also stated that he did the collaboration with the mindset of helping a young act.

Stonebwoy also advised that for an artist to publish a cover of an original song on any music store should contact the original owner of that particular song to clear things before proceeding. He made this known in an interview with Kobby kyei on star talk

Mr. Drew released a song featuring Stonebwoy titled eat but was blocked on YouTube due to copyright issues after the owner of the song Rotimi reported it.
