LP presidential candidate Peter Obi has responded to allegations of participating in election rigging during the recently concluded presidential elections. Obi, who is currently touring the nation to thank Nigerians for voting for hope and a new Nigeria, stated that every vote he earned was given to him by Nigerians.
He denied claims that he earned the majority of the Igbo votes in the country, stating that he won in states where people from the southeast are not the majority of the population.

Obi dismissed allegations of paying someone to rig his election or purchasing votes, stating that he had never done so and would never act in such a way. He clarified that his votes came from people who voted for optimism and a better Nigeria. He noted that he received thousands of votes in the Xbulk of the northern states, where he was not expected to win, and in several more northern places.
In places like Jos, Lagos, Edo, Delta, and Cross River, where he won, the Igbos are not the predominant ethnic group, but they still voted overwhelmingly in favor of optimism. Obi reiterated his belief that he can make Nigeria a better country, having done so in what he called a sub-national state. He emphasized that he has the knowledge and relationships necessary to bring about change in the country.
