The Nigerian music industry has produced many successful artists who have made an impact in the music world. However, before some of these music stars became successful, they participated in music competitions, which helped to pave the way for their music careers. Here are some of the Nigerian celebrities who participated in music competitions before they became music stars.

Chike Ezekpeazu Osebuka, better known as Chike, is a 30-year-old Nigerian singer and songwriter. In 2015, he participated in the music competition, Project Fame West Africa, and in 2016, he came second at the season one of The Voice Nigeria. These music competitions helped him to gain exposure and develop his music career.

Yemi Eberechi Alade, popularly known as Yemi Alade, is a 34-year-old Nigerian singer, songwriter, and actress. She won the Peak Talent Show in 2009, which was a stepping stone for her music career. She released her hit single, “Johnny,” which became an instant hit and further propelled her music career.

Johnny Drille, whose real name is John Ighodaro, is a 32-year-old Nigerian singer and songwriter. He contested in season six of Project Fame West Africa in 2013. Afterward, he released a cover of Di’ja’s song titled, “Awww,” which brought him to the limelight.

Niniola Apata is a 36-year-old Nigerian singer and songwriter who contested in the sixth season of Project Fame West Africa in 2013. Although she did not win, her participation in the music competition was a great boost to her music career.

Timi Dakolo is a 42-year-old Nigerian singer, songwriter, and producer. He won the Idols West Africa music competition in 2007. The competition provided him with a platform to showcase his vocal talent and propelled his music career to new heights.
