Ghanaian singer Mzbel has finally revealed the reason behind her harsh criticism of Counsellor Charlotte Oduro following news of her failed marriage. Many speculated that Mzbel harbored a deep-seated grudge against the marriage counsellor, and she has now confirmed that to be true.

According to Mzbel, her resentment stems from an incident involving her 10-year-old son, Adepa, popularly known as Okomfo Black. In 2023, Adepa made headlines when he openly stated that he does not believe in the existence of God or Jesus Christ, arguing that his mother was the one who provided for him. His remarks sparked public outrage, with Counsellor Charlotte Oduro among the most vocal critics.

During a discussion on UTV, Charlotte Oduro strongly opposed Adepa’s statement, vowing that she and other Christians would stand against anyone who speaks ill of God. This, however, did not sit well with Mzbel, who felt the counsellor’s reaction was overly aggressive towards a child.

In a recent interview, Mzbel explained why she took the opportunity to drag Charlotte Oduro online after news of her divorce surfaced.

“When my son’s issue came up, she took it personally and declared that she would fight against him. I was shocked. How does a grown woman decide to fight a 10-year-old over religion?” Mzbel fumed.

She further pointed out the irony of Oduro’s stance, stating, “She said she would fight for her God, yet she couldn’t fight for her own marriage. Instead of guiding my child with wisdom, she chose to attack him. Now, look at what has happened to her own home.”

Mzbel expressed disappointment in the marriage counsellor, stating that she expected a more mature approach. “As a counsellor and pastor, she should have said the boy is young and will grow to understand. Instead, she acted out of emotions,” she remarked.

The singer also criticized Charlotte Oduro’s public statements about marriage, suggesting that her toxic views contributed to the breakdown of her own union. “She constantly insulted her husband and called it a joke. She hasn’t made marriage look appealing for those of us who are unmarried. How can such a person give relationship advice?” Mzbel concluded.

Mzbel’s comments have since sparked heated discussions online, with many debating whether her reaction was justified.
