Popular R&B artiste Beyoncé Knowles starred in the remake of ‘The Lion King’ as Nolan. She about to release with her new film titled ‘Black is King’. The film is a companion piece to the ’The Lion King’:The Gift soundtrack.
The film is meant to celebrate black ancestry. “We are all in search of safety and light. Many of us want change. I believe that when black people tell our own stories, we can shift the axis of the world and tell our real history of generational wealth and richness of soul that are not told in our history books,” the artiste stated.
She featured a number of African and people of African descent creative directors on the project. Notable among them are two Ghanaian creative directors Blitz Bazawule and Kwasi Fordjour
Blitz was the director of the award winning movie, “The burial of Kojo”. Kwasi Fordjour was the brain behind the art work of “The Lion King”:The Gift cover and one of the directors on her new film “Black is the King”.
The artiste acknowledged these two talented creative directors on her social media platforms.
Kudos to these two for putting Ghana on the map.
