On July 28, 2025, the Parliament of Ghana suspended its regular proceedings to pay a heartfelt tribute to Highlife icon Daddy Lumba, who passed away on July 26, 2025, at the Bank Hospital in Accra.
The solemn tribute saw Members of Parliament (MPs) from both political divides unite to honor the late music legend. Many shared emotional stories, sang lines from his timeless songs, and urged the government to immortalize his legacy.
Akwasi Konadu, MP for Manhyia North, lauded Daddy Lumba not just as a musician, but as a generational icon.

“Daddy Lumba was a maestro whose influence shaped Ghanaian music for decades. His lyrics captured love, pain, hope, betrayal, and life itself,” he noted.

Adelaide Ntim, MP for Nsuta-Kwaman-Beposo, echoed this sentiment, calling on the state to organize a state-assisted funeral and initiate efforts to preserve his musical legacy.
