I remember seven years ago as a student nurse doing my clinicals in one of the hospitals in Ashanti region, I encountered a situation I will never forget. I had closed earlier for the morning shift to get to Kumasi for something very important.
When I stepped out of the hospital gate, my eyes were affixed in the right direction hoping to catch a trotro that may be heading towards Kumasi.
As I gazzed in that direction and busy matching forward, I didn’t notice that I was closed to a gutters. Guess what, I slipped and fell into the guatters in the presence of women who were selling at the hospital entrance.
Unfortunately for me, at that same time three ladies were walking down the road in the direction I was looking one of whom I knew. So the situation presented itself as if I fell into the guatters while looking at ladies.
Can you imagine, a young male nurse in white falling into the gutters at broad daylight in the presence of ladies. I wished the ground had split open and swallowed me instantly.
Such was the feeling yesterday as I sat behind my TV watching DateRush Reunion part two on TV3.
Taking a clue from previous episode, Grandpa one of the male contestants of the reality show had prepared a special package for his date Susan and hoped to present same on stage as a surprise just as others did.
Unfortunately for him, as he brought out his package, a very beautiful portrait of Susan, the host, Giovanni closed the session. He couldn’t present his gift on stage as anticipated and that was it. I could see the disappointment and embarrassment written on his face as he bowed down holding the portrait of his date. I felt embarrassed too.
The fact is, the last thing any man can take is public humiliation especially in the company of ladies and this is exactly how Giovanni treated Grandpa.
It is very bad to the core and I call on TV3, DateRush production and Giovanni to apologize unreservedly to Grandpa, his funs and all those who watched TV3.
