Towards the end of last week, Ghanaian social media was set ablaze when Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale went after Charter House Ghana’s CEO, Madam Theresa Ayoade, for something she said at the just ended press conference by Charter House.

To Nana Yaw Wiredu, the woman’s submission at the press conference did not merit the tweet and insults unleashed on her and the company by these artists and some of their fans. Adding that he also blames the media for fueling this misunderstanding between the artists and Charter House.

He also revealed that though most Ghanaians may not be aware, some event companies who had nothing to do with Charter House are even facing the consequences of the confusion that occurred at the VGMA20 and could only imagine the quantum of these effects on Charterhouse. Explaining that “you go to a company and pitch for a business and they refer you to Shatta’s behavior, people withholding their budgets because they think the creative arts do not deserve it.”

He went on to say that, instead of the tweet Stonebwoy made, he should have rather tweeted “Dear madam Teresa, I sincerely apologize for what I did at your event, I take responsibility for what I did and I know it has undermined your work, as an artist, there is no way ill like to do anything that will destroy a scheme that has given me an award that has made me one of the most powerful dancehall artists in Africa. I am sorry if you feel the media is centering on my conversations than the award scheme, ill urge the media to sincerely look at the scheme and its activities to make sure that this year and the following year’s events become successful thank you.”

He also induced an irony from the Bhim President’s tweet saying that “how is it that an award that has given you five times makes a comment about something you caused her and her company pain and you come and say she is wicked, aren’t you wicked?”

Contrary to what Ghanaians think or deduced from the article and video of that press conference, Nana Yaw Wiredu insisted that the woman meant no malice when she “organized her press conference and in that space, she asked that they focus on the other artists and the VGMA at the time and the way to bring back the love for the event within the space and time of the press conference and not outside.”

He later took the opportunity to nullify statements from artists who say that they do not care for awards since he believes “Awards validates artists and they can never say they don’t like awards.”
