Ghanaian music stars Sarkodie and Stonebwoy have found themselves at the centre of another online discussion after Stonebwoy publicly questioned some of Sarkodie’s recent social media posts.

The latest exchange has attracted attention because of the history between the two artistes, who have previously had moments of tension despite also showing support for each other’s careers.

Stonebwoy’s latest comments followed major London concerts by both artistes. Sarkodie performed his Rapperholic concert at the Royal Albert Hall in March 2026, while Stonebwoy headlined the BHIM Festival at the OVO Arena Wembley in August.

Stonebwoy Questions Sarkodie’s Posts

In a lengthy message on X, Stonebwoy referred to private conversations he said he had with Sarkodie following their respective UK shows.

According to Stonebwoy, he contacted Sarkodie after the rapper’s Royal Albert Hall concert to congratulate him, and they later had a longer conversation about the music industry, artiste behaviour and personal principles.

Stonebwoy then questioned the timing and meaning of some content Sarkodie shared online after his own OVO Arena Wembley performance.

One particular video involving an amputee drew attention from fans, with some interpreting it as a possible indirect reference to Stonebwoy.

Stonebwoy appeared to question whether the post was deliberately aimed at him, while leaving Sarkodie to explain the intention behind it.

Sarkodie Denies Throwing Shade

Sarkodie, however, rejected the suggestion that his posts were intended as a jab at Stonebwoy.

The rapper questioned why Stonebwoy believed the content was directed at him and maintained that he had not posted anything specifically to shade his colleague.

Sarkodie also pointed to the fact that he had invited Stonebwoy to his Royal Albert Hall show, suggesting that the invitation was evidence that he did not have a problem with him.

The disagreement therefore appears to be largely about interpretation and timing, rather than an openly acknowledged attack from Sarkodie.

The History Behind the Latest Tension

The latest exchange has also brought back memories of previous moments of friction between the two artistes.

In May 2026, Stonebwoy made comments about what he described as a “convenient friendship” in the Ghanaian music industry after Sarkodie and Shatta Wale appeared together at Kweku Smoke’s London concert.

Neither artiste’s name was mentioned in Stonebwoy’s original post, but some social media users connected the comments to Sarkodie and Shatta Wale because of the timing. Sarkodie later addressed the issue without treating the speculation as confirmed.

That history has made the latest disagreement more interesting to fans, with many people now examining the words and actions of both artistes more closely.

Both Artistes Continue to Make Major Moves

Despite the tension being discussed online, both Sarkodie and Stonebwoy continue to make significant moves internationally.

Sarkodie’s Royal Albert Hall performance in March was reported by the Ghana News Agency as a sold-out show, with plans subsequently announced for Rapperholic to move to London’s O2 Arena in 2027.

Stonebwoy also reached an important milestone in August when he headlined BHIM Festival at the OVO Arena Wembley. The venue’s official listing confirms the August 15, 2026 event and describes it as Stonebwoy’s first headline performance at the venue.

These achievements show that, regardless of online disagreements, both musicians remain important figures in Ghana’s international music scene.

Fans React to the Exchange

As expected, the disagreement has generated different reactions online.

Some fans believe Stonebwoy had a legitimate reason to question the timing of Sarkodie’s post, especially because of the subject of the video and its proximity to his OVO Arena performance.

Others believe Sarkodie’s explanation should be accepted and that social media users may be reading too much into content that was not specifically addressed to Stonebwoy.

For now, neither side has publicly provided evidence proving that the social media posts were deliberately created as attacks on the other.

My Opinion

The situation is a reminder of how easily social media posts can create tension between public figures.

When two artistes already have a history of disagreements, even an ordinary post can be interpreted differently depending on the timing and circumstances surrounding it.

In this case, Stonebwoy clearly felt that some of Sarkodie’s actions deserved an explanation, while Sarkodie has denied that he was targeting his colleague.

Rather than assuming what either artiste meant, it may be better to stick to what they have actually said publicly.

Final Thoughts

Sarkodie and Stonebwoy remain two of Ghana’s biggest musical exports, and both have recently achieved major milestones in the UK.

Their latest exchange has once again placed their relationship under public scrutiny, but whether it develops into a bigger disagreement remains to be seen.

For now, the two artistes appear to have different interpretations of the events, and fans will likely continue debating the issue online.

What do you think — was Sarkodie’s post a shade at Stonebwoy, or did fans read too much into it?
