Kenya – A woman was presented at the Kibera Law Courts, where she faced counts of charges related to theft and possession of stolen property.
Identified as Nancy Amani, the lady allegedly made away with household items and clothes from a man who had hosted her at his house in Nairobi.
The lady who was travelling to Nairobi from Nyahururu on January 29 had contacted the said man, a Sylvester Mwangi, requesting accommodation.

The man gave in to her request and agreed to host her in his house in Uthiru, outskirts of Nairobi, as she attended a function in the city, Nation reported.
In the morning of January 30, Mwangi left, presumably for work, leaving Amani in the house.
Mwangi later received a call from the caretaker manning the residential area, who enquired whether he (Mwangi) was moving houses as items were being removed from his house.
In the company of another woman, Amani is said to have stolen items worth over KSh 82,000.
The items comprised a 24-inch TV set, a sub-woofer, a gas cylinder, two pairs of shoes and a jacket. The police traced the items in a house in Mwangi’s neighbourhood.
Amani pleaded not guilty to the charges, arguing that the plaintiff was her boyfriend and the items in question belonged to her.
She secured a KSh 100,000 bond with a surety of a similar amount or an alternative cash bail of KSh 20,000. The case has been scheduled for a mention on February 24.
