The final funeral rites of former president of Ghana, Jerry John Rawlings is currently ongoing at the Black Star Square in the heart of Accra.
A number of top dignitaries including President Akufo-Addo, Vice President Bawumia, past presidents John Agyekum Kuffour and John Dramani Mahama have taken their seats.
The mortal remains of the former president and founder of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has been laid in state albeit in a close casket at the forecourt of the Black Star Square also known as the Independence Square.
The state funeral of the ex-president which has taken the form of a military burial, has sen a lot of military activity.

Other government functionaries and foreign emissaries have also made their way to the Black Star Square to partake in the final funeral rites.
