Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Tiwa Savage has revealed that her love life remains on pause — and she blames it on her sky-high standards. Speaking in an interview on Apple Music 1, the “Somebody’s Son” hitmaker admitted she is open to finding love but refuses to compromise on her expectations, which include wealth, stability, and a drama-free relationship.
“I’m still looking for someone’s son. I don’t have any [partner]. And I think it is because I’m asking for specific things. Maybe I need to narrow my search down. I’m actually looking for someone who has a private plane, yacht; someone who doesn’t have baby mama drama because I can’t deal with that. Maybe that’s my problem,” she said.
Tiwa Savage explained that she wants a man who already lives a luxurious lifestyle and is emotionally uncomplicated, stressing she cannot handle partners with unresolved family issues — particularly involving children from previous relationships.
The singer, who divorced music executive Tunji ‘TeeBillz’ Balogun in 2018, has been single since. They married in 2013 and share a son, Jamil, born in 2015.
In a separate conversation with Zeze Mills, Tiwa disclosed that the only true love she has ever experienced is with her son.
“I’ve never felt true love except with my son. Looking back at my relationships, even my marriage, I realise it wasn’t love,” she admitted.
Reflecting on her past, the 44-year-old music star expressed doubts about ever finding lasting romance.
“I’ve tried repeatedly, so maybe love isn’t meant for me in this lifetime,” she said.
Tiwa Savage has previously spoken openly about her struggles with love, but her latest comments have sparked conversations online about dating standards, celebrity relationships, and whether love and luxury can truly coexist.
