In a tragic turn of events, Chief Inspector Godwin Beniba, a respected station officer at Anamase Police Station, passed away during his wedding ceremony in Akyem Anamase near Oda in the Eastern Region on Friday, December 27, 2024.
According to multiple reports, Chief Inspector Beniba mysteriously collapsed moments after arriving at Anamase Hotel, where he was set to marry his girlfriend, Florence Debrah.
The groom and his best men had gathered at the venue with other guests, awaiting the bride’s arrival. Florence Debrah was making her final preparations in one of the rooms at the event center when the incident occurred.

An eyewitness account stated that Chief Inspector Beniba felt dizzy immediately after arriving at the hotel with his best man. He suddenly collapsed and was rushed to Anamase Clinic by some guests for medical treatment. Unfortunately, medical personnel pronounced him dead upon arrival.
The groom’s family, who had traveled from his hometown in the Northern Region, arranged for his body to be taken to Oda Government Hospital morgue for autopsy and preservation before his eventual burial.
Attendees, including police personnel from Accra, Koforidua, Oda, Akyem Achiase, Akyem Swedru, and other parts of the country who had come to witness the union, were left heartbroken by the tragic event.”
