With just over a month after releasing his EP project R.T.T (Rapper Turned Terminator), Malcolm.E is slowly but consistently gaining a strong following and fan base for his music.

R.T.T achieved over 2000 monthly listeners on Spotify in its first month of release, with the majority of listeners streaming from the USA. Although he is proud of the international reach, Malcolm.E would like more people from his continent to hear his music.

“Being appreciated overseas is exciting but I do want more people from home to hear my music – that being Africa as a continent,” he says.  He has also gained a following of over 8500 followers on Instagram.

So who is Malcolm.E?  “I’m a 22 year old rapper from Eswatini (Swaziland) who started my journey in music in my last year of high school after about 2-3 years of just writing lyrics in a notebook.” He explains he explored different musical styles over the years and now feels he has found his niche and understands himself as an artist.

“My sound is lyrical trap. I’m not at all a singer but I have developed a way to merge vocal melodies into my sound my own way.”

Malcolm.E boasts a smooth base voice that sets him apart from current artists in the music circuit today. He counts several internationally renowned artists as his influences.

“Growing up I was highly influenced by the likes of Lil Wayne, Jay Z, Eminem and J Cole to name a few of the Hip Hop artists that are classified as lyrical. While trying to find my sound I fell in love with trap music and it has definitely influenced my sound and I believe that is where I get my melodies and catchy hooks from. Trap artists that influenced me include Migos and Travis Scott.”

He is proud of his latest EP project R.T.T and sees it as a defining moment in his career. His cover art is also an expression of this.

“The message of this project is to showcase my growth and hopefully inspire others to chase their dreams. If you look at the cover art of the project it also illustrates this. It’s a futuristic portrayal of me created by Christopher Masuabi AKA Plasmic Rapture; a highly talented South African concept artist and illustrator,” he concludes.

R.T.T features 9 tracks and is available on all major commercial digital streaming platforms.
