List of the 6 ministerial nominees approved by parliament

The six ministerial nominees put forth by President Akufo-Addo have eventually been approved by Parliament following hours of debate and a short suspension.

Kobina Tahir Hammond, an Adansi Asokwa MP, has been chosen to lead the Ministry of Trade and Industry, and Dr Stephen Amoah has been named as the ministry’s deputy.

Both Brian Acheampong, a member of parliament for Abetifi, and Mohammed Amin Adam, a member of parliament for Karaga, have been appointed as ministers of food and agriculture, respectively.

The new Minister for Religious and Chieftaincy Affairs is Stephen Asamoah Boateng, and the Minister of State for Local Government and Rural Development is Mr Osei Bonsu Amoah.

Mr KT Hammond secured 154 yes votes as against 116 NO votes to gain approval from the house. Dr Stephen Amoah received 146 votes against 123 NO votes to pass the approval stage.

Also, Brian Acheampong was approved after receiving 167 YES votes. Meanwhile, Amin Adam secured 152 YES votes while O.B Amoah had 149 YES votes.

The ministers-designate were approved on Friday amid some complaints which saw the sitting suspended for a few hours.
