John Dumelo Set to Transform Ghana’s Agricultural Sector as Deputy Minister-Designate

John Setor Dumelo, the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon, has expressed excitement about his new role in Ghana’s agricultural sector after being nominated by President John Dramani Mahama as the Deputy Minister of Food and Agriculture-designate.

In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) on February 6, 2025, Dumelo responded to a congratulatory message from the Minister of Food and Agriculture, Eric Opoku, promising to contribute significantly to the ministry’s vision.

“Thanks so much, Senior. Can’t wait to begin working with you to transform the agric sector. I have always admired you and your contributions. Have an amazing morning, my boss,” he wrote.

The announcement of his nomination was made on February 5, 2025, by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Acting Spokesperson to the President.

Beyond politics, Dumelo is a professional farmer, actor, and entrepreneur. He holds three master’s degrees, including a Master of Laws (Natural Resources) from the University of Ghana Law School (2024) and a Civil Engineering degree from KNUST.

With his deep passion for agriculture and governance, Dumelo’s appointment is expected to bring innovative solutions and growth to Ghana’s agricultural sector.
