Joana Gyan Cudjoe, the parliamentary candidate for Amenfi Central and wife of Ghanaian musician Keche Andrew, recently shared the extraordinary lengths she went to capture her husband’s attention.
In an interview with MzGee on November 13, 2024, Joana revealed that she disguised herself as a poor woman to test Keche’s true intentions, ensuring he was interested in her for who she was, not her wealth.
Joana explained, “I didn’t know much about his personal life, and based on what I was hearing, I wanted to be sure he was serious and loved me for who I am. That’s why I often used taxis or trotro to visit him. When I arrived, I would call him to come pick me up and even ask him to pay for the fare.”

She added that Keche sometimes got frustrated because she wouldn’t inform him about her use of public transport and would simply ask for money for the fare. Despite this, he showed his genuine love for her.
Keche Andrew recounted how he discovered Joana’s true identity. “Keche Joshua knew my real identity all along but didn’t tell me. One day, I was invited to her office, and when I got there, I told the receptionist I was looking for Joana Gyan. After sitting in the waiting area, I was taken aback when I finally saw her. I was in shock for an hour or two.”
Reflecting on their marriage, Andrew emphasized the importance of communication and trust, despite facing numerous challenges and external attacks. He recalled receiving threatening calls and rumors spread by others, including fellow musicians and media personalities. He often took Joana’s phone to chat with these individuals directly.
Andrew shared a pivotal moment in their relationship: “One night, I had an open conversation with her, telling her all my secrets, everything I’d done, and what I planned to do. After that, I told her to choose: stay with me or leave. But all she did was cry, and the next morning, she gave me a chance. And here we are.”
Joana and Keche Andrew married on November 30, 2019, after Joana divorced her first husband, a British national. The couple has now been together for five years.
