The Ghana Police Service has arrested popular Ghanaian TikToker Fante Comedy following a viral and controversial live TikTok session about the recent helicopter crash that claimed multiple lives.

During the livestream, some participants mocked the crash victims and made shocking statements, including wishing that Sammy Gyamfi and former President John Dramani Mahama had died in the incident.

One participant, identified as Akosua Jollof, allegedly made threats during the session. Police have since arrested both Fante Comedy and Akosua Jollof for questioning.

Authorities say other individuals believed to be involved are currently on the run, and a manhunt is underway to track them down.
In a statement issued on August 12, 2025, the Ghana Police Service confirmed:

“The Ghana Police Service has commenced investigations into a viral TikTok video in which an individual is heard threatening the lives of the President of the Republic, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, and the First Lady.

So far, two people — Prince Ofori and Yayra Abiwu — are in police custody assisting with the ongoing investigation, while efforts are underway to get other persons believed to be connected to the video to assist with the investigation.”

The arrests have sparked widespread debate on social media freedom, responsible online content creation, and the limits of free speech in Ghana.
