9-year-old art prodigy Farouk Suleimon has grabbed the attention of art lovers across the country with his exceptional craft.

Suleimon, who is in Basic four, combines his primary education with improving his art by attending Ayanwole Academy of Art as an extracurricular activity.

He was inspired to start drawing after watching his brother draw a cartoon character. He said he never stopped drawing after that.

When his mother noticed his gift, she enrolled him in the art academy.

Suleimon’s mother said kids in the area used to bring their art assignments to her son to help them draw for a fee of N5. When they moved from Oyo State to Lagos State, she said she decided to enroll him in an art academy.

She said watching her son draw gives her pleasure and she is pleased that he is an artist.

Despite being so young, Farouk speaks with the wisdom of an adult and this reflects in his work.

He said the first artwork he created when he began attending the academy was titled “Old Age.”

“I named the drawing Old Age because everyone who is young today will be old tomorrow,” Farouk said while speaking to Linda Ikeji TV about his works.

Farouk revealed that he doesn’t plan to be just the best in Nigeria but hopes to compete with artists around the globe.

“I want to be one of the best hyperrealism artists in the world,” Farouk says in episode one of First Class Material season 2.

First Class Material is produced by Linda Ikeji TV and sponsored by First Bank of Nigeria. It features outstanding Nigerians and the work they do to make a difference in the world.
