Even celebrities are guilty of breaking the law. Over the years, a number of celebrities have served time in prison, including comedian Tim Allen, domestic guru Martha Stewart, and actor Kiefer Sutherland. A large number of these celebrities have been charged with minor offenses such as DUI or financial fraud. They serve relatively short terms and are frequently (but not always) permitted to resume their lives. When it comes to those who serve their time and repent of their sins, society can be very forgiving.

Then there are superstars whose illegal acts are on a whole other level, requiring several years in prison. They’ve committed acts so heinous that it’s nearly hard for fans to forgive them.

The men and women on this list have committed sex crimes, trafficked large amounts of drugs, and even murdered. Some people admit to breaking the law, while others defend their innocence. In either case, they’ll be locked up for a long time.

When they are freed from prison, it is uncertain what they will do. Some people may die while serving their sentences, while others may vanish from the public eye. Regardless, their reputations will be forever tarnished as a result of their poor judgment.

1. BILL COSBY WAS CHARGED WITH SEXUAL ASSAULT BY 60 WOMEN.

According to Biography, Bill Cosby has been accused of sexual assault numerous times throughout the years and has even reached a settlement with one accuser in 2006. Despite this, the majority of fans harbored no animosity toward the star in the aftermath. His actions went mostly unnoticed until comedian Hannibal Buress revealed in a 2014 stand-up routine that the former “Cosby Show” star had a history of rapping women. Soon after, a slew of women came forward to say that the actor had forced himself on them without their consent. He loaded supermodel Janice Dickinson with drink and a pill before abusing her, she said “Entertainment Tonight.” From there, it was all downhill.

2. SUGE KNIGHT IS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR PAROLE UNTIL 2037.

According to The Cinemaholic, Marion Hugh “Suge” Knight Jr., the CEO of Death Row Records, had an incident with a man named Cle “Bone” Sloan, who worked on the biopic “Straight Outta Compton,” in January 2015. The fight became so heated that Knight accidentally grazed Sloan with his car and ran over a man named Terry Carter, who died as a result of his injuries. Knight first claimed that he was being pursued by two armed individuals and that his acts were in self-defense.

Knight pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 22 years in prison for voluntary manslaughter and six years for a third strike violation three years later which amounted to a total of 28 years in prison. Since 2018, he has been incarcerated at the Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility in San Diego County, California, and he won’t be eligible for parole until 2037.

3. IN FRONT OF THEIR YOUNG CHILDREN, MICHAEL JACE KILLED HIS WIFE.

Michael Jace, who you may recognize from the television police drama “The Shield,” shot his wife in their Los Angeles home in front of their two children in 2014. According to CNN, he was sentenced to 40 years in prison for the murder. Jealousy appears to be the driving force for the murder. April Jace, his wife, wanted a divorce, and the 53-year-old actress suspected she was seeing someone else.
