‘Calm Down’ from Rema sets world record as first-ever No.1 hit on MENA Chart

The hit song “Calm Down” by Rema is still topping the charts all around the world. Since his debut, the singer has been progressively gaining popularity, relying on a fan base that keeps expanding and achieving global recognition. –

As of this writing, “Calm Down” has approximately 388 million Spotify streams, while its popular remix featuring US musician and actress Selena Gomez has a staggering 717,512,920 Spotify streams.

Shortly after The Official MENA list was introduced, the 2022 international hit created history when it soared to the top of the list. Thus, “Calm Down” becomes the first song to ever reach No. 1 on The Official MENA Chart.

The song, which serves as Rema’s second lead single from her debut album Rave & Roses, discusses the singer’s search for love.

The remix with Selena received a nomination for Best Social Trended Song at the Global Awards in 2023.

Rema’s real name is Divine Ikubor. He is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and rapper. He rose to stardom after releasing the song “Dumebi”. In 2019, he signed a record deal with Jonzing World, a subsidiary of Mavin Records.

He is best known internationally for his 2022 hit single “Calm Down”, the remix of which, with Selena Gomez, peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 and led the U.S. Afrobeats Songs for a record-setting 35 weeks.
