The Office of the President has officially confirmed the tragic deaths of several high-ranking government officials and members of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) following a fatal military helicopter crash on August 6 in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region.
Among the eight individuals who lost their lives are Ghana’s Minister of Defence, Edward Omane Boamah, and the Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed.
The Ghana Armed Forces had earlier announced that it had lost communication with a Z-9 military helicopter that departed from Accra and was heading toward Obuasi. Hours later, the worst was confirmed during a press briefing at the Jubilee House, where Chief of Staff Julius Debrah disclosed the tragic outcome.
