Bishop Salifu Amoako and Wife Arrested Following Son’s Role in Fatal East Legon Accident

The Ghana Police Service has arrested Bishop Elisha Salifu Amoako, founder of Alive Chapel International, and his wife, Mouha Amoako, after their son was involved in a tragic car accident in East Legon on Saturday, October 12, 2024.

The accident claimed the lives of two 12-year-old girls, shocking the community.

According to a police statement issued on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, the couple is currently in custody, assisting with investigations after their 16-year-old son, Elrad Salifu Amoako, caused the accident. Elrad, driving a Jaguar SUV with registration number GN 7801-20, collided with a Honda Acura 4×4 on Mensah Wood Street. The Honda, driven by Joseph Ackah, had four other passengers, including the two young victims.

Both vehicles caught fire upon impact, burning beyond recognition. While Elrad and his passenger were rescued and are currently receiving treatment at a hospital, the lives of Justine Agbenu and Maame Dwomoh were tragically lost at the scene.

A team from the Police Management Board, led by Inspector-General of Police Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, visited the bereaved families to offer condolences and checked on the injured victims in the hospital. Three of the five occupants in the Acura survived the crash, with two treated and discharged, while one remains hospitalized.

The police have assured the public of a thorough investigation into the accident, emphasizing their commitment to bringing closure to the affected families. They also requested continued prayers for the victims and their families during this difficult time.

The incident has sparked public outrage, with many questioning how a 16-year-old was allowed to drive such a vehicle, especially given the tragic outcome.
