As A Student, I Bought My ‘Beetles’ For N2,720, Resold It & Added Money To Get A 504 For N6,800- Obi
Peter Obi, while speaking on the podium during the “Handshake Across Nigeria” event that went down in Enugu, recalled what he told some students before he mounted the stage
He said he was telling some young girls backstage that as a student, there is nothing one cannot achieve if he or she is determined and focused. He explained how things were quite easy and affordable during his period stating that everything has now changed.

He said during the time, lectures could afford a car but today they can’t even afford a new car
In the video, he said ” I was telling some young girl that when I was a student of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, thank God one of my old schoolmates is here he is a witness. I bought my Beetles at the rate of N2,720. when 505 was N6800, so we sold our Beetles and added money to buy the 505. During that time, many lectures had fate and also bought but everything has changed today because no lecturer buys a brand new car and that is how bad Nigeria is”.
