The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has closed down the East Legon branch of popular food eatery, Marwako Fast Food after a widespread report suggested that they have been feeding people with food poisoned food.

Ghanaians on Twitter torn into Marwako, a fast-food eatery in Accra after one user identified as Edward Elohim complained of getting food poisoning after eating there.

According to Edward Elohim, the fast-food service had given him and several other people food poisoning which got them admitted to the Nyaho medical facility.

His statement was confirmed by other users who found themselves in the same situation after purchasing their food last week.

The tweets which went viral have sparked some condemnation over the act with the latest development resulting in the Food and Drugs Authority swiftly moving to shut down the restaurant.

We have closed down the restaurant and together with other relevant agencies, started investigations.”

“We wish to assure the public that the issue would be thoroughly investigated and appropriate actions taken. Additionally, FDA is ensuring the strict implementation of it protocols to prevent any further harm to the public.”
